I've spent a good part of the last few months trawling the net for calibration related sites. I've found that many sites, even the larger brand name companies, return "Server Not Found" at various times.
This is usually as a result of their web hosting company being "down".
So my question is, do you know how often your site is down? Potentially losing you customers and sales.

How It Works
Website Availability works by having two dedicated servers checking your site. One is based in Boston, USA on the UUNet backbone. The other is based in London, Europe in Telehouse.
Website Availability is unique in that we give you the choice of what location should check your site 24 hours a day, with the other location as the 2nd test should your site go down. Website Availability works by looking at a page on your website every 5 mins, it's like having a virtual visitor checking your site to make sure it can see a web page and you are online.
Many of our competitors use a simple ping system to check if your site is running, this is not a good way to check, because your site can be ping able even if no one can see your site!
What happens if your site is down?
At Website Availability we use 2 dedicated servers based in 2 different locations (US and Europe) to confirm that this is true, if it is, we send you an alert.
You can custom design this email alert so that you can, if you like, email your hosting company support dept. Or how about sending full instructions to a member of your staff telling them who should be contacted and what needs to be done.
After the first alert is sent, we keep you informed of what's going on. As soon as your site is back online we let you know.

How reliable is this service?
Very reliable, every web site in the world will have some downtime, that's why we have another server in London's Telehouse ready to take over if the main server should fail.
How often is my site checked?
You can check from every 5 minutes to 1 hour on a standard account, each site can be setup different.
How many sites can I check with an account?
You can check 3 websites with a standard account (£9.95 inc VAT per month), but you can add extra sites for a small cost.
How much do you charge for extra sites in my account?
It costs £3.50 (inc. VAT) per extra site, per month.
How do I add or edit sites I want to check with my account?
You simply use our online control panel to make updates to your account.
Can you check the availability of FTP servers, email servers or news servers?
Not right now, but we will be adding this option soon.
How many email addresses can the down or up messages be sent to?
You can send upto 5 email address per site, and even customize your message, so you can have the email sent direct to your hosting company with all the information they need to get you back online.
Is ordering online with you safe?
Yes very safe, we have our own secure server for placing your order.
How do I know I well get a good service?
We run all our own servers, all our staff who answer your questions via our online support system have expert and hands on knowledge of our system, each one using it on a daily basis. The System has been developed by our own programers so we can make updates and changes any time we need to.
How often can I make changes to my account?
You can update it anytime you want everyday of the year, as many times as you like for no extra charge.
What if I need help using your service or if there is a problem?
If you need help you simply submit a support request using our support system, you will get a reply within 4 hours of the advertised times. You will never wait longer than 24 hours for a reply from our staff.
