Boeing Selects AssetSmart Calibration for Lab Solution Calibration News

SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 05, 2004 – PMSC announced today that The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) has selected PMSC’s SMART/CMS Calibration Management System to replace several legacy applications in supporting the tracking and service of over 250,000 instruments and tools at Boeing Commercial Airplanes metrology laboratories in the Puget Sound area. SMART/CMS is a module in PMSC’s AssetSmart®, a unique multifunction software system that enables global asset management and optimization by providing the first fully integrated, Internet-enabled, asset life-cycle management platform.

The Boeing metrology labs utilize SMART/CMS in supporting their internal customers in the Quality, Operations and Engineering Test organizations. Approximately 1,000 service orders are completed per day, with most of the user interaction occurring via Web browsers over the Boeing intranet.
Featuring the vertical integration of a series of modules, AssetSmart is based on the concept of enterprise asset management as an integrated process, not just automation of a set of administrative tasks. Significant savings can be derived from the AssetSmart cataloging and SMART/CMS calibration modules. For example, there are lower costs associated with the maintenance of multiple legacy asset management systems. Total asset visibility across the enterprise infrastructure can result in increased utilization and a reduction in capital expenditures, contributing directly to RONA results.
In addition, a single, comprehensive information repository for all global assets enables standardization of lifecycle processes, sharing of data across departmental organizations or plant sites, and simplification of management reporting and audit activities.
AssetSmart software supports the SMART/Web interface option, which enables users to operate the system from anywhere in the world through any device supporting a standard Web browser, including wireless PDA’s or hand-held data collection units.
